Vidushi Rashmi, a dancer with absolute brilliance and devotion, was born in a Mysore family devoted to fine arts, particularly music. She is the daughter of Sri. Nagaraj and Smt. Susheela Nagaraj who initiated her to take to dancing at the age of three. She is an exponent of Pandanallur style of Bharathanatyam taught by her guru Dr. Vasundara Doraswamy for 12 years. She secured first place in her Bharathanatyam Vidwath program and has completed her senior examination in Karnatic vocal music.
Rashmi has been winning coveted prizes in dance all through her childhood. She has participated in the dance-dramas of her illustrious guru and has won several accolades from the press and the public.
She has presented many solo performances in festivals such as the Dasara Mahothsava at Mysore, national festivals at Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Pollachi, Mathura, Bangalore and Hampi. She was also selected by ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) and IRCEN (Indian International Rural Cultural Center) to perform in Thailand, Beijing, Xian province, Shangai, Hong Kong and Harbin.
For the past ten years, Rashmi has been living in the US. She has taught and choreographed semi-classical and Bollywood-style dances across the tri-state area and has performed in TV Asia’s South Asian Program, Staten Island Hindu temple, New York Kannada Koota, Triveni, Brindavana, among other places.
